National Disability Employment Awareness Month

There are 54 million people in this country with a disability. There are 54 million different viewpoints. There are 54 million different talents. There are 54 million people who can and do bring something of substance to the various tables they sit down at.

There is a fear that is prevalent and very well known in the disabled community. If a disabled man or woman works full time, their benefits get attacked by the very system that wants them to be a valuable productive member of society. The system takes away from you when you want to do right. The system penalizes you for bringing your talent forth. The system wants you to pay them back when they pay you so very little per month to have somewhat of an existence that hardly covers the necessities of life.

During this month of National Disability Employment, we should be AWARE that being employed SHOULD be considered a good thing, not a hinderance. The policies in place now don't promote people with disabilities getting out of their houses and applying for jobs. They don't promote a "better" more productive life. You're gonna take $1 for every dollar I make?? How does that help me? You demand for your money back into your untrustworthy system even when it's YOUR MISTAKE and I've alerted you to it! How does that encourage me to do better? Your policies promote me staying home and living off the system.

This month, next month, in the coming months, Let's be AWARE that the system has to change.
